Cops rescue elderly woman from drowning

Vijayawada: A 60-year-old woman was rescued by two cops from drowning in Eluru Canal here on Saturday. According to police, traffic constable P Nagarjuna and home guard B Balakoti Nayak were alerted when a person raised alarm over drowning of the woman.

The policemen immediately swung into action and saved her from drowning. They used a branch of a tree and helped the woman catch it to come out of the swirling waters. After first aid, the woman recovered. Commissioner of Police Gautam Sawang congratulated the cops for their timely intervention.
