Visakhapatnam: A large number aspirants of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission Group-II mains examinations staged a protest when more than 200 computers hanged at the examination centre at GITAM University here on Saturday.
The first examination, in a series of three objective-type examinations on Saturday and Sunday, was scheduled to be started at 2:30 pm on Saturday.

The examination was delayed due to technical snags in most of the rooms of the examination centre. According to the aspirants, even after rectification of the problems, the systems hanged once again. Some students appeared for the examination in the second round after the officials fixed the problems.

However, about two hundred students refused to write the test and sat on a protest in front of the examination centre even at 8 pm. They demanded the APPSC to conduct a re-exam for all the candidates who were allocated the examination centre in GITAM University.

One of the aspirants alleged mass copying in the first and second round of the examination in the centre.“I have been studying for the examination for the past five years. What will be the use even if I attend the exam when the students copied answers from one another? A re-exam for all the candidates allotted to the same centre will serve justice to the sincere aspirants,” he said.

GITAM University spokesperson said that the problem was due to the software installed by TCS appointed by the government for the exam.

“The troubled systems belonged to TCS and we are not responsible for any mix up,’’ said GITAM University spokesperson.
He told this correspondent that GITAM University facilitated as a centre for examination and there was no problem with the university computers, he added.
