Visakhapatnam: When the schools and state governments stepping up their efforts to take on the challenge posed by Blue Whale Game, the Andhra Pradesh government is yet to respond on the issue. However, individual initiatives to alert several government institutions and schools are on to take steps for conducting awareness programmes among students about the deadly social media game which is going viral.

- Narava Prakasa Rao, secreatry of Bala Vikas Foundation, sent a letter to the Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to come up with an action plan to tackle the menace
Speaking to The Hans India, Narava Prakasa Rao, secreatry of Bala Vikas Foundation, which works for child rights, said Blue Whale Game causes violation of Right to Life of every child. This was the reason why he had sent a letter to the Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to come up with an action plan to tackle the menace.
So far many students allegedly attempted suicide because of playing this sinister game across the country. With the children having easy access to smart phones and carrying them to schools, the issue has become a cause for concern for parents and school managements to safeguard children from falling into the deadly trap.
When contacted Andhra Pradesh Unaided Schools’ Management Association (APUSMA) state general secretary P Pullaiah, he said they would discuss about Blue Whale Game and its implications on students in a meeting at the earliest.
“Though many students are playing Blue Whale Game Challenge, no untoward incident took place so far in the state. Before anything worst could happen, it is better to take precautions on the lines of West Bengal, Odisha and Delhi governments,” said Child Rights activist Narava Prakash Rao.
He said they were intending to take this matter to the notice of HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao so that the managements of schools and colleges would be directed to keep a tab on their students.
