Vijayawada: The city police arrested eight persons for registering non-existing land with forged documents and fake signatures on Tuesday.

According to police, the accused were identified as Upputalla Narasimha Rao alias Narra Ramesh (31) of Chintalapalem in Telangana State, Battula Nagaraju (56) of Gudivada in Krishna district, Darla Kameswara Rao (47) of Tadepalli in Guntur district, Kadiyam Rajasekhar (48) of Bhavanipuram, Panduranga Vithal (52) of Lambadipet, Mekala Srinivas (27) of Bhavanipuram,

Kaligatla Sambamurthy (46) of Tadepalligudem and Guruvindapalli Anjaneyulu (55) of Pamidimukkala.
The group of eight had created fake survey numbers for non-existent lands at Gollapudi, Ramavarappadu and Tadepalli and sold them to others to make easy money.

They created fake stamp papers by forging signatures of the Collector and prepared settlement pattas and receipts for fake land cess. Each member of the group played different roles such as landlords, lawyer, document writer, fake stamps and Aadhaar cards to carry out the crime.

On September 6, rural MRO lodged a complaint with the police alleging that registrations were made with fake documents. The police are investigating the case.
