In fact, the teachers, employees and workers conveyed their opposition to the reforms through 17 nationwide protest programmes, he noted.

Speaking at the Employees, Teaches and Workers Coordination Forum meeting held here, she pointed out that the reforms widened the economic disparities further, statutory welfare measures slashed, job security in the IT sector became questionable and industrial disputes on the rise. She alleged that the Centre has failed to create jobs in lakhs let alone creating them in crores. Medical and educational services assumed the proportion of commerce both in the state and in the country, she added.

The CITU leader said that the Modi government is firm on privatising civil aviation, insurance, railways and defence sectors and watering down the implementation of the labour legislations on the recommendations of the Niti Aayog. In this backdrop, trade unions are planning to lay siege to Parliament and sought people’s support to the agitation programme to be held in November.

UTF general secretary P Babu Reddy demanded merger of the old pension scheme with the contributory pension scheme. LIC Employees’ Association general secretary A Raghunadha Reddy spoke.

AP Pensioners’ Association state deputy general secretary BVS Raju, LIC Women’s Wing convener Parijatamma, Electricity Employees Union state secretary P Sudarsan Reddy, BSNL Employees Union leader Sudhakar, JVV state-level leader Rajasekhara Rahul and others participated.
