Tirupati: Former MP Chinta Mohan staged a protest against the failure of Central and State governments in bringing the Rs 77 crore Institute of Pregnant Women (IPW) building to use, even after three months of inauguration.

He held a dharna before the IPW building here on Monday along with CPI, CPM, Mahila Congress, AP Mahila Samkhya and AIDWA leaders. He demanded the state government to sack Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas from the cabinet as he failed in fulfilling his promise of providing infrastructure to the hospital in 45 days.

Due to his involvement only, the proposal to establish Rs 120 crore cancer hospital at Tirupati was cancelled and it was shifted to Guntur, he alleged. CPM and CPI district secretaries Kumar Reddy and Rama Naidu, leaders Vandavasi Nagaraju, Chinnam Penchalaiah, Nainar Sreenivasulu, R Sridevi and others have participated.
