Vijayawada: The School Education Department will be conducting the summative -1 Examination for 6th to 10th Class students in the second week of December and arrangements are being made in this connection. The Commissioner of School Education department, Sandhya Rani, issued orders to this effect and directed the District Education officers asking them to make necessary arrangements

The government changed summative -2 assessment examination as summative -1 and is conducting the examinations. It is decided to conduct two summative examinations instead of three summative examinations and Government issued a GO to this effect.

The decision was taken following leakage of the question papers in the recently held summative examinations by the corporate educational institutions. The private schools were involved in the leakage of question papers with the intention of getting more weightage marks for students of Classes VIII and IX in SSC.

Following recommendations of the commissioner of school education department, Sandhya Rani, the government abolished weightage marks for 8 and 9th Class students. The SCERT changed the summative -2 as summative -1 examinations and summative three as summative -2 examinations following leakage of the question papers.

Sources in the School Education department said, they will conduct examinations for 6,7, 10th Class students in the descriptive type; for 8, 9 Class students, the examination will be in the objective type for 100 marks.
