A modern library building built with a cost of Rs 1.22 crore was inaugurated by Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy here on Monday. The Grade 1 library in the city will be shifted to its new spacious premises now which is located besides Doordarshan Office near Baragipatteda.
Tirupati: A modern library building built with a cost of Rs 1.22 crore was inaugurated by Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy here on Monday. The Grade 1 library in the city will be shifted to its new spacious premises now which is located besides Doordarshan Office near Baragipatteda.
The library was located in the rented accommodation till now since its inception in 1954. The new library built in 5,500 square feet area. It will have 2 reading halls, internet facility, digital library hall, periodicals, reference section etc. Speaking after inaugurating the library, the Minister said that it is a golden opportunity for the people of Tirupati to have this library here as they can get any information from here.
He asked the people to utilise the library services with discipline. District Collector PS Pradyumna said that the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha (ZGS) Chairman has asked land for another 22 buildings in the district which will be sanctioned soon. Steps will be taken to fill the vacancies too, he assured. He asked the ZGS to increase the membership in libraries in the district which is 50,000 now.
Chittoor MP Dr N Sivaprasad has said that the new building was as beautiful as the one in Parliament. ZGS Chairman T Kannaiah Naidu said that, those who are preparing for competitive examinations and others can find the library more useful and its services which will be offered at the subsidised rates. In another programme at Mahila Pranganam organised by the Kapu Corporation, Women and Child Welfare Minister Paritala Sunitha has distributed sewing machines to 122 women costing Rs 4,000 each.
She said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has provided this with a view to make them grow financially by earning Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month. Minister N Amaranatha Reddy said that as 99 percent of DWCRA women were repaying the loans, banks were competing with each other to provide loans for them. Kapu Corporation Chairman Ch Ramanujaya has thanked the Chief Minister for including Kapus in BC list.
At a programme on ‘Standup India’, Amaranatha Reddy observed that this programme would help the poor and downtrodden to become entrepreneurs. After agriculture, entrepreneurs of small and medium industries are able to provide more employment opportunities and accordingly, MSME Park will be established in every constituency. In these parks, SC and ST women will be made stakeholders. By linking Standup India programme to Industries department, Rs 2,875 crore were transferred directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries, the Minister said.
A separate MSME Park will be allotted for women entrepreneurs, he added. District Collector PS Pradyumna said that Chittoor district is much ahead among other districts in providing units to more beneficiaries under this programme. The Minister and Collector have distributed 100 units of JCBs and Innova cars worth Rs 20 crore to beneficiaries. MLA M Suguna, MLC Rajasimhulu, ZP Chairperson S Girvani and others took part.
