Guntur: Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana said diarrhoea cases are gradually reducing and government will take necessary steps to prevent spread of diarrhoea.

He conducted a review meeting with Principal Secretary Karikalavan, Director of Municipal Administration Kanna Babu, District Collector Kona Sasidhar and GMC Commissioner Balaji Rao Narayana on Sunday.

He said the government said old drinking water pipelines spread over 100 km would be replaced by new ones within 15 days in Guntur city. Narayana reviewed progress of works pertaining to underground drainage and drinking water supply in Old Guntur.

Later, he inspected drinking water pipelines shifting works. He instructed the staff of Guntur Municipal Corporation to speed up works. Later, the Minister visited sewage treatment plant in Suddapallidonka.

Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao pointed out that there has been a reduction in diarrhoea cases. Officials are ensuring that proper treatment is being provided to the patients, he said. He pointed out that said the government newly appointed an IAS officer at the GMC Commissioner.

Ministers Pulla Rao and Nakka Ananda Babu accompanied Narayana during an inspection in Guntur city on Sunday. They said they would submit a report on diarrhoea cases to the Chief Minister who has been regularly monitoring the situation.
