TDP plans for long battle with Centre

Amaravati: With major political parties refusing to attend the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the government held discussions with social organisations, employees’ unions and students’ organisations and decided to take up action plan for a year-long agitation.

The meeting decided that they should unite all like-minded forces and intensify agitation for the Special Category Status.

Two separate committees would be formed and one as coordination committee and another is agitation planning committee. This meeting also sought the cooperation from all stakeholders to support government’s initiatives in peacefully taking forward the protests.The meeting was of the strong opinion that they should resort to street protests with public participation.

The employees’ union president Ashok Babu and Anuradha of Electricity employees association assured the party full support and cooperation in the struggle for SCS.
Ashok Babu suggested that joint action committee be formed and this committee should campaign against BJP in Karnataka where the Assembly elections would be held.

The Telugu people living in that state were upset over the injustice done to State by the BJP and we should explain to them about how Andhra Pradesh has been cheated. This would help in teaching a lesson to BJP, he said.

Earlier, the Chief Minister briefed the participants about his visit to Delhi and how leaders of all major political parties extended their support to the state on SCS. He said he also briefed them why he had waited for four years before severing the ties with the NDA.

He said he told them that if he had quit NDA earlier, the state would have been pushed into non-performing state and would have faced severe problems. Now at least it is in a stage where it can improve its economic condition with some more effort. Naidu said the leaders whom he met wanted to know from him the overall political situation in the state, he said.

Naidu said that it was unfortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was behaving like a dictator. “It is now clear that the BJP wanted to try and grow by failing me as an administrator,” Naidu said.

Blaming Narendra Modi for the injustice done to the state, Chandrababu Naidu stated that Modi himself approached and sought the support of TDP during the 2014 general elections by promising all support to the state but betrayed us after he got absolute majority at the Centre.

Narendra Modi and BJP were doing collusive politics by taking support from YSRC and other parties in the state and they further damaging the state interests. Taking serious note on YSRC president YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s comment, Naidu maintained that he would give due respect to him despite his provocative and offensive statements.

In this meeting, Konathala Ramakrishna from North Andhra Front blamed that the Narendra Modi still behaving like a Chief Minister of Gujarat instead of considering the demands of other states.

Reacting on the injustice done to state by BJP, film actor Sivaji stated that Narendra Modi was taking revenge on Chandrababu Naidu. Krishna Rao of Samatha Party observed that there was a big conspiracy against AP. He stated that CM was not subordinate to PM and Narendra Modi should come out of this attitude.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Venkata Ramana lamented on the absence of main political parties for the second all-party meeting. He observed that it was not the TDP’s meeting and it was being organised by Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister of the state. Babji of Lok Satta suggested that a public ballot be taken on SCS.

Nallamothu Chakravarti from Visalandhra Mahasabha said that no government had ever cheated any state as BJP had done with Andhra Pradesh.
