Eluru: The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) HY Dora directed the engineers to sanction power connections within two days to the industries to be set up by new entrepreneurs in West Godavari district and cooperate with them to start the production.
He was the chief guest at the review meeting of EPDCL engineers held at APEPDCL SE Circle office here on Tuesday. He reviewed the line losses, metre reading problems and other issues.
The CMD said that the new entrepreneurs are coming forward to establish their industries in the district. The officials should take necessary steps to verify the applications received from the new entrepreneurs and if those are in the correct format, the power supply should be given within 48 hours to the industry. “Even it is away from the mainline, the power connection should be given to those new industries by erecting required poles,” he suggested.
He said that due to non-reading of power metres, the EPDCL is incurring losses. He pointed out that in some areas 11 to 12 per cent bills are not recorded and following this, the salary amount of staff working in those areas did not credited to the company.
He said that the officials are showing heavy losses in Denduluru section and questioned why these losses in particular section, even the district was developing industrially. He said that some grama panchayats did not pay the street light bills and directed the officials to issue notices to those panchayats and collect the street lighting power charges.
He stated that East Godavari grama panchayats are on the forefront in changing the street lighting with LED bulbs and the West Godavari district also following in the footsteps of East Godavari district. This will help the panchayats to minimise their power charges, he added.
He cautioned the officials to concentrate on the power supply in field level and cautioned on the load shedding and additional usage of power. Otherwise, the EPDCL would be in a financial crunch, he warned.
Andhra Pradesh Energy department principal secretary adviser Ranganathan, director Seshu Kumar, Transco SE Satyanarayana, DE Ambedkar, Raghunath Babu, AD Gopalakrishna, AE Rambabu participated in the meeting.
