Vijayawada: Agiripalli police arrested three youths in connection with the rape of a B Tech student and sharing of rape video in social media.
Though the incident took place last year, one of the three accused recently posted the same video again in the social media. Consequently, father of the girl lodged a complaint with Agiripalli police three days ago.
According to Agirpalli police, C Vamsi Krishna, K Siva Reddy, the former students of NRI College, Agiripalli, had invited their junior girl student to their room in May 2017 and raped her keeping her under intoxication. Their friend D Praveen shot the video of the rape incident and all of them shared video in social media.
The incident was taken to the notice of the college principal who tried to remove the videos from the media and assured that the girl may not be harassed by the three accused students. They completed four years graduation and left the college.
One of the accused, D Praveen of Boddanapalli village of Agiripalli mandal had recently started blackmailing the girl to give Rs 10 lakh otherwise, he would post the video in social media. Vexed with the harassment of Praveen, the girl informed about the harassment to her parents.
Police after collecting evidence, arrested the three accused and produced before the media on Saturday. Rape case was registered against them under Section 376, 34 and 37 of IPC and IT cases. The ghastly incident shocked the people.
Agiripalli circle inspector YV Naidu told The Hans India that the accused would be produced in the court. Two of them are working as software professionals and the third is jobless.
Andhra Pradeh Mahila Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari visited the residence of the victim in Vijayawada and consoled her and family members. The girl was sent to the government hospital for medical examination. Rajakumari assured the family members that stringent action would be taken against the accused for committing the heinous crime.
