Hyderabad: The upper air cyclonic circulation over south Odisha and neighbourhood now lies over interior Odisha above the mean sea level. An upper air cyclonic circulation at 7.6 km above mean sea level lies over north interior Karnataka and its neighbourhood.

A trough extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level runs from south interior Karnataka to Tamil Nadu, the Met department bulletin said on Thursday.

As a result, thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Godavari districts and across Rayalaseema on July 6.

According to the bulletin, there were thunderstorms with gusty winds at isolated places in the north coastal districts on July 5 besides Rayalaseema. The Southwest monsoon was weak in Andhra Pradesh. Rain occurred at isolated places in coastal and Rayalaseema districts.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the state were: Koida (West Godavari), Chintapalle (Vishakhapatnam) 3 each, Therlam (Vizianagaram), Kalingapatnam (Srikakulam), Velairpad, Polav aram (both in West Godavari) 2 each, Kukunoor, Seethanagaram, Vararamachandrapur, Peddapuram 1 each.

The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places in the coastal and Rayalaseema districts from July 6 to 9. No large change during the period July 10 to 12 in the weather outlook.

The highest day temperature of 39 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram. The other temperatures in the state were: Nand-igama, Nellore & Vijayawada 37 each, Bapatla, Kavali, Kadapa, Nandyal & Tirupati 36 each, Machilipatnam, Ongole, Visakhapatnam Airport, Anantapur & Kurnool 35 each, Kalingapatnam, Narsapur, Tuni 33 each, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada 32 each and Arogyavaram 31.
