Water Conservation Theme Park to come up in capital

Amaravati: The State government proposed a Water Conservation Theme Park in the capital city Amaravati. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to study and prepare appropriate plans to establish the park.
He further said that if the government creates a water conservation theme park in the city, then the visitors and tourists will come to know how to conserve water and how to utilise it efficiently.
During a review meeting on progress of various works under MGNREGA and Panchayat Raj department on Tuesday, Chandrababu Naidu said that the theme park should have a model wherein all the water conservation measures being implemented in the State are displayed.
Interlinking of rivers, check dams, farm ponds and all other water conserving programmes being implemented by the State government will be created in the theme park, he said.
Chandrababu Naidu suggested that the park could be established in about five acres land in the capital city. On the other hand, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete construction of dry-solid waste management sheds in 9,000 villages in the State by December end.
He also asked the Panchayat Raj department officials to construct pre-fabricated concrete drains in the village having above 2,000 and below 5,000 population. At the same time, he directed them to construct underground drainage systems in the villages having population more than 5,000.
In the first phase, all the farm ponds must be completed with the available funds under MGNREGA, Chandrababu Naidu said.In order to increase the green cover in the State, the officials were directed to plant saplings along the canals, drains and all other water bodies in the State.
The officials informed the Chief Minster that about 53 per cent of installation of LED lights in the villages has been completed, out of the total targeted lights of nearly 24 lakh.
They said plans were prepared for establishing at least one park on one acre land at each identified village in 608 mandals. Playgrounds were sanctioned for 2,865 villages and burial grounds for 4,148 villages, they said.
Construction of 1468-km of concrete roads, 278 Anganwadi buildings and 15,021 individual toilets were completed in this financial year, officials added.
At the end of the meeting, the representatives from State Employees Guarantee Council donated Rs 1,50,000 for providing food to the poor at Anna Canteens. Minister for Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh and other officials participated.
