Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana informed 15,000 water connections would be provided in all 6 municipalities across the district.
The Minister reviewed with the officials at his camp office on various development activities being implemented in the district.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Narayana said that the state government has been providing water connections to BPL families for only Rs 200 and made an appeal to every family to make use of the opportunity.
“We are giving 6 lakh water connections across the state by end of October. Connections will be given in Nellore city too after completion of water works probably by end of October,” said the Minister.
State government has been conducting Happy Sunday programme in all 110 municipalities, he added.
Further, Minister Narayana inspected ongoing works of the underground drainage in the city and warned contractors to complete the works on time.
He also observed sanitation conditions in the city and expressed dissatisfaction. Narayana directed Corporation staff members to maintain hygienic conditions in the city by cleaning the drains.
While instructing municipal officials to complete central divider works much before August 15, the Minister informed the civic authorities to utilise SC, ST Sub Plan funds for development activities.
Narayana asked the officials to complete construction of pending Anna Canteens in the city soon. Former Legislator M Sridhar Krishna Reddy and others were present.
