Kurnool: As per the directions of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty, the police personnel simultaneously conducted cordon and search operations in their respective police station limits across the district in the early hours of Saturday.

The cordon and search operations were commenced by 4 am in the morning and continued till 7 am.

As many as 7 DSPs, 31 CIs, 50 SIs, 300 ASIs, head constables and constables, 17 special party police personnel and 5 bomb disposal squad teams participated in the search operations.

Under the directions of Kurnool DSP Ugandar Babu, the cops inspected several places and interrogated suspicious persons.

During the course of interrogation, the police seized some deadly weapons, a van, auto-rickshaw and 5 motor cycles for not having valid documents.

In Nandyal, four autos and eight motor bikes were seized at Nandamuri Nagar and YSR Nagar. An auto and six motor bikes were seized at Adoni by DSP A Prasad.

Even at Atmakur, 10 motor bikes have been seized. Around 60 litres of country made liquor, and one jaggery bag was also been seized.

The police also destroyed 2,500 litres of spurious liquor. SP Gopinath Jetty said as a part of visible policing and to drive out the fear among the public, cordon and search was conducted in problematic areas across the district.

Several suspicious persons have been taken into custody. He made an appeal to people to ‘Dial 100’ if they come across any suspicious persons loitering in their areas.
