Ongole: Rajya Sabha Member GV L Narasimha Rao has breathed fire on the State Government for discriminating Prakasam district in terms of development and maintained that he was at a loss of comprehension why the government resorted to victimization measures against the district.

Talking to media here on Friday when he came here to discuss district’s development with intelligentsia and people from wide spectrum of society, he said the discrimination grew intenser during the past four years.

Successive governments regarded the district as an orphan, he said adding that there was no progress in development projects like NIMS, Velugonda Project and Ramayapatnam project.

The Center ruled out execution of Dugarajapatnam port and asked the state government to show an alternative port, he said questioning the rationale behind the state government not writing to the Center on the issue.

It was high-time the state government take up initiative and write to the Center on Ramayapatnam port, he said.

If the state government issues the letter, he said he would use his good offices with the Center in Delhi and ensure that the Center gives its nod for the project.

Veligonda project execution seems to be never ending because it is being seen from political perspective rather than development perspective.

He criticized unnecessary politicizing takes place in the name of issuing bonds to raise funds for the Capital Region Development Authority.

The government on one hand states that its coffers are empty and on the other sanctioned Rs 3 lakh for Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu’s dental treatment, he pointed out.

Unable to go it alone in next polls, the TDP has plans to sail with the Congress, arch rival, he said.

Chandrababu, a Congress product, was successful at last bringing TDP under the Congress roof, he lampooned.

Referring to flood relief flow to Kerala, contributions made to the flood-ravaged state are not final and more support in the form of infrastructure development – roads and other structures – is on the anvil, he elaborated
