​Vijayawada: Identifying the symptoms of Brain stroke and treating the patient within the Platinum minutes can save the patient and also recover fully and lead a normal life said Neuro Physician Dr Sai Sandeep of Ramesh Hospitals. If a person suffers brain stroke about 13,000 neurons die per second out of 100 billion in the brain.
Addressing the media here on Monday, Dr Sandeep said that Brain stroke occurs due to poor flow of blood in the brain due to clots which results to cell death. According to World Health Organisation (WHO) brain stroke can be easily identified as (FAST), the acronym stands for Facial drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulties and Time to call emergency services was the most common symptoms of stroke.
The doctor said that if a person suffers brain stroke, he should be immediately taken to a brain institute with complete infrastructure like experienced Neurologists, Radiologists, CT scan, Nursing staff and Physiotherapists. Treatment should be given without wasting any time once the patient is identified with brain stroke to reduce the brain damage. He said that the more time lapse the more damage will be done to the brain, leading to many problems like paralysis, dumbness and other complications.
Manda Chiranjeevi Das popularly known as (MC Das) said that he suffered brain stroke, while he was at a function about 11 pm on August 23. He was immediately rushed to Ramesh Hospital and by 11.40 pm the doctors started treatment, in less than 24 hours he could recover and was discharged on the third day and the doctors said he will be back to normal in a fortnight. He said that the main reason for brain stroke was Stress, Atmosphere Pollution, Hypertension, Diabetes and lack of physical exercise, he added.
