Tirupati: The district administration along with civic authorities and sports association would organise a function here on Friday to felicitate E Rajani, hockey player of the national team which won silver medal in the Asian games.
A rousing reception at the airport is planned by sports persons and sports lovers to welcome Rajani at the airport after which she would be taken in a procession from the airport to Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam where a civic reception would be organised to honour the woman hockey player for bringing laurels to the nation and the state.
Hailing from a remote village Yanamalavaripalli in Yerravaripalem mandal in Chittoor district, she rose to the position of a national hockey player with sheer grit. Meanwhile, District Collector PS Pradyumna directed that Youth and Sports Affairs official Lakshmi to make necessary arrangements for welcoming and honouring Rajani in a befitting manner.
