Rampachodavaram: Police arrested 21 men and women taking party in a rave party after raiding a resort at Devaraatigudem village under Rampachodavaram mandal in Agency area on the district late on Friday night.

According to Rampachodavaram sub-inspector K Vijaya Babu the raid was carried out on a tip-off that a rave party was going on at A1 resorts. The arrested included eight girls from Visakhapatnam, 21 men from Vijayawada who were dancing in an inebriated condition, and the event manager Swapna.
Four cars, mobile phones and Rs 94,000 cash were also seized from them. The resorts belongs to Ramana Maharshi alias Babji and Swapna had been conducting the rave parties there.

A case was registered against them who will be produced in court on Monday. Resort owner Ramana Maharshi is at large. Rave party culture which has been confined to metro cities so far has now spread to Agency areas in the district which are dotted with picturesque and stunning locales visited by thousands of tourists every day. The government’s initiative to promote eco-tourism in the area has also been helping the seeping of the culture to these remote areas.

Along with government resorts, many private resorts are also available in the Agency area owing to demand from increasing tourist flow. The event managers are selecting the Agency area for their parties, as the police patrolling is less in the area when compared with other parts of the state.
