Vijayawada: A technical session was organised on Mental Health and Youth on Tuesday,as part of five-day training programme on Training the Trainers on Youth and Health for NSS Programme Officers organised by the department of economics at Maris Stella College and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development.

Dr Ayodhya, psychiatrist was the resource person. He explained about problems faced by youth including depression, phobia and suicidal tendencies.

“There are some disorders like borderline personality disorders, anti-social personality disorders leading to absenteeism, lying, which leads to drug addictions, alcohol, prostitution,” said the doctor.

Later, Dr Keerthi Bollineni, president, Vasavya Mahila Mandali explained about drug abuse which was a complex phenomenon.

Paladugu Nirmala, Yoga Instructor, Dr Vasanthi Rajendran, Professor, RGNIYD, Dr B Josephin Sandhya Rani, HoD Economics, NSS volunteers Dr B Rajendra Prasad, Supriya, Swaroopa, Dr Usha, faculty B Koteswara Rao, Dr Swaroop Kumar, Kalima and Sobha were present.
