Narendra Modi government doing injustice to State: Chandrababu Naidu
Making serious allegations against the NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not complying with the AP Reorganisation Act, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that they did not implement even a single promise till date
Amaravati: Making serious allegations against the NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not complying with the AP Reorganisation Act, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that they did not implement even a single promise till date.
Naidu criticised the Modi government for causing injustice to Andhra Pradesh. The State Assembly unanimously passed a resolution demanding that the Central government fulfill all the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act.
Chandrababu Naidu introduced the resolution on implementation of AP Reorganization Act, Special Category Status and other promises on Wednesday in Assembly.
“We have to pay taxes. They don’t develop our State. They do injustice to the State. Are we slaves? Is it not democracy? Are we not in democracy? Don’t you have the democratic spirit? Is it not the responsibility of the Central government to solve the problems of AP,” Naidu lambasted the NDA government.
He further questioned what was the difference between the NDA rule and British rule? “They took away the even the Kohinoor Diamond from Guntur – Krishna districts region similarly the Central government was only collecting taxes from AP and not developing it,” he added. He wondered why the Centre was neglecting AP despite repeated pleas by the State to extend a helping hand.
All political parties in the country demanded that the Centre should accord Special Category Status (SCS) to AP when the TDP moved the no-confidence motion recently in Parliament, except BJP and YSRCP, he pointed out.
Naidu alleged that the YSRCP Lok Sabha members had submitted their resignations well in advance only to ensure that the BJP had required numbers in the House to defeat the motion.
Naidu also blamed the Centre for not extending the required support to speed up works of the national project Polavaram. They failed to approve the DPRs and release funds, he said.
The Centre even failed to release funds to fill the gap caused due to revenue deficit. Naidu regretted over the lack of cooperation from the NDA govt in construction of capital Amaravati. No tax relaxation was provided, he pointed out. The Central government promised a similar package offered to Bundelkhand for the backward districts, but it had released only Rs 50 crore for each backward district.
It also failed to fulfill the promise of providing an exclusive railway zone for the State. He wondered why the Centre was not coming forward to establish a steel plant in Kadapa. The BJP made only Rayalaseema declaration but not setting up the plant. He said the State government was ready to give land, water, power, iron ore, incentives and everything for establishing the plant.
Regarding Visakhapatnam – Chennai Industrial Corridor, AP was being forced to depend on ADB loans, he said. Naidu also regretted over the lack of cooperation from the Centre for setting up metro rail projects in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The Chief Minister reiterated that the fight will continue until the Centre provided the Special Category Status to AP.
At this juncture, BJP MLA P Vishnukumar Raju said Naidu possessed the capacity to convince everybody with his speech. Reacting to the remark, Naidu said that not only the present generation but the next generation will also not pardon the BJP for causing injustice to AP.
“BJP leaders are claiming that they have completed 90 per cent promises. If it is true then let us examine it with the sitting judges. Then the facts will come out,” Chief Minister said.
He said Opposition leader Jagan fears the Prime Minister and hence he was not making any comments against the Centre. TDP- Congress alliance: Reacting on criticism on Congress-TDP alliance in Telangana, Chandrababu Naidu questioned the BJP why it had abruptly severed ties with the TDP in TS. They even failed to follow the coalition dharma, he pointed out.
Naidu said that while he has been trying to maintain good relations with the Telangana State, the BJP was trying to widen the gap between the two States. He alleged, “The BJP has a criminal motive to widen the gap between the two Telugu States.”
