Tension prevailed at Ramanakkapet village of Uppada Kothapalli mandal in East Godavari when the farmers initiated a Yeruvaka planation programme on Sunday in the lands acquired for Kakinada Special Economic Zone.

The police thwarted the programme and arrested the leaders of Vyatireka Porata Samiti.

The KSEZ, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Limited has procured the farmers lands over 8000 acres in 2005 to set up its manufacturing units.
