Visakhapatnam: Unhappy with the recent Supreme Court’s verdict on adultery under sections 497 and 198, members of Jana Jagarana Samithi (JJS) staged a protest blindfolded in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue near the GVMC administrative building here on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, JJS president K Vasu demanded the apex court to review its judgment as it would damage the interests of society. The recent verdict on the adultery would damage the Hindu marriage system, the speakers opined and added it will disturb the society.

The government should challenge the verdict to protect the larger interests of the society, the women demanded. JSS leaders Sailaja, Sivani, Ishwrya, Aasa, Devi, Keerthana, Saikiran, Damodar, Guptha, Durga Prasad and Anudeep addressed the gathering.
