Tirupati: Beware, denizens of Tirupati and pilgrims will attract fine if they caught violating 13 things as per the rules amended by the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT). To keep temple city clean, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) taken a decision to impose penalties on sanitation rule breakers. The 13 things imposed include plastic usage, open defecation and urination. Few more things added to the ban list are spitting, washing clothes, utensils and bathing on roads. The civic staff imposes a penalty of Rs 100. Feeding of animals and birds in non-designated areas, litter dumping in open space or aside of the roads were also brought under the ban list.
For that, Rs 100 fine will be collected by the MCT staffers. Similarly, municipal authorities can impose fine of Rs 500 for not storing and delivering of construction and demolition waste as well as segregation of fish, poultry and meat waste. Also, burning of waste in open place and other non-designated areas will be penalised. The MCT staff to impose fine of Rs 100 over a vendor or hawker running businesses without a dustbin, not keeping house clean by its owners and defecation of pet animals in open places. Some other things which would attract fine of Rs 100 are delivering waste that is not segregated and stored in separate bins.
Meanwhile, the Health Department staff are being trained to impose fine on rule violators. A week back, penalty was imposed on urinators near a private bus stand and collected the penalty of Rs 100 from 10 members. And they have been maintaining the surveillance on vulnerable places for open defecation and urination at important location of the city.
MCT Commissioner V Vijay Rama Raju speaking to The Hans India told that the civic body was trying to create awareness over sanitation and maintenance of cleanliness in the city. Already, we have been asking the public through media to cooperate with civic body staff for upkeep of temple city clean. “To prevent the open defecation and urination widely, we have provided toilets in all the important location of the city,” he stated and added that the civic chief staff have been imposing fines on open urinators.
