Tirupati: The umpteen number of Sankeertans penned by Sri Purandharadasa are the essence of Vedas, said Sri Subudendra Theertha Swamy, seer of Mantralayam. Metla Pooja was observed at Alipiri Padala Mandapam as a part of Traimasika Metlotsavam during the wee hours of Saturday.

Mantralayam Pontiff addressing the devotees who came from various States to participate in the Metlotsavam said, all the Dasa Padas including those penned by Purandhara Dasa, Kananka Dasa, Narayana Dasa and many others are intended to preach the essence of Dharmic values embedded in Vedas in an easy language so that they will reach every common man.

So the Dasa Padas are famous with every household as Nama Sankeertana is the best way to reach the lotus feet of the Almighty. TTD Dasa Sahitya Project Special Officer Dr P R Ananda Theerthacharyulu and others also spoke. Over 3,000 Dasaparas (devotees) hailing from AP, TS, TN and Karnataka participated in the metlotsavam in which the devotees climb the footpath to Tirumala rendering Keerthanas and performing Bhajans all the way to Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara.
