Bhimavaram: The West Godavari Delta District Committee of All India Democratic Women’s Association will carry out campaign seeking control over liquor sale and prevention of attacks on women from November 26 to 30. On December 3, the women’s body would organise a dharna in front of Sub-Collector’s office, according to D Kalyani, secretary of the district unit.

Addressing women at local AIDWA office, she said that there has been rise in attacks on women and children. Though there were harsh laws, the offenders of crimes against women were going scot-free because of poor implementation of the laws.

The root cause for increased domestic violence and crime was liquor which was available everywhere. As the revenue from liquor was the main income source for the government, liquor was flooding market like anything, she lamented.
