Electric cars to replace govt hired fuel vehicles in AP

Visakhapatnam: The denizens going to witness electric cars(e-cars) as State government is planning to lead the way in promoting eco-friendly routes in transport system. The e-cars will replace the government hired conventional fuel vehicles in and around Andhra Pradesh.
The Central government plans to increase the number of electric vehicles in India by 2030. Trying to achieve the same, the State government wants to bring electric cars onto the streets of Visakhapatnam as early as possible.
According to the reports, around 300 vehicles are expected to be replace the government hired conventional fuel vehicles in Visakhapatnam, Guntur, East Godavari and Vijayawada by the next month, more e-cars likely to adorn the State by February in 2019.
Adding more support, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced his wish to see the State as a flourishing ground for electric vehicles and government had brought in Electric Mobility Policy 2018-2023 to encourage more individuals to go green in the upcoming days. Earlier in recent CII Partnership Summit held in the city, Naidu also flagged off two electric cars--Tata Tigor and Mahindra e-Verito--at the event.
A senior GVMC official said that as a step towards curbing the harmful effects of vehicular pollution, GVMC had already announced the launch of e-rickshaws onto the streets of Visakhapatnam.
Initially these electric vehicles will be introduced on wide beach roads in the city to avoid traffic congestions later these will be allowed onto the city roads based on their capacities. District tourism officer Purnima Devi also said that Chief Minister had introduced the e-cars project aimed at transforming the State into country’s electric mobility hub and to maintain eco-friendly system.
Earlier, it was reported that the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) agreed in principle to invest a whopping Rs 10,250 crore in Andhra Pradesh with Rs 2,000 crore to be invested per year for one lakh e-cars in Andhra Pradesh.
