Rajamahendravaram: Election Observer MK Meena has said that voters list is foundation to democracy and every citizen should exercise franchise without fear or favour in the elections. “It is a weapon to protect democracy,” he said.
Addressing the officials at a meeting conducted in the corporation office here on Tuesday, he underlined the need to prepare voters list with true voters as per the directions of Election Commission of India (ECI) and it was the duty of officers from booth level to returning officer.
All the recognised political parties should appoint their representatives at booth-level, he informed.
All the complaints relating to election also be addressed immediately and the respective records should be shown to whoever asks and the final list of voters should be published on January 4, 2019, he said.
Collector Karthikeya Misra asked the officials to sent letters to all political parties to appoint booth-level representatives as early as possible.
Meetings with political leaders should also be convened at Assembly constituency and district-level. Online registration of voters was also getting good result and booth-level officers were checking the voters list also.
Corporation Commissioner Sumit Kumar, Rajamahendravaram Sub-Collector CM Saikanth Varma, Rampachodavaram Sub-Collector D Vinod Kumar and other officials were present.
