Eluru: About 180 candidates have been selected at the Eluru range police sports meet selections held here on Tuesday and Wednesday. A total of 212 candidates from Krishna, East and West Godavari districts attended the selections.
DIG T Ravikumar Murthy was received by West Godavari District Superintendent of Police M Ravi Prakash at the police parade grounds here on Wednesday.
Disclosing the details of the meet, the SP informed that competitions were held in 51 categories. The selected police personnel would take part at state-level sports meet. He asked the participants to excel in the state-level competitions and bring fame to the Eluru range.
The DIG, who was the chief guest, said sports would help improve physical and mental strength. Such events should be conducted at least once in a year.
He called upon the police personnel to take part in the competitions.
