FIR against six transgenders filed
A day after the alleged attack on the former chief of Hijra Association Surada Yellaji in the city, the Kancharapalem police on Thursday registered FIR against six local transgenders
Visakhapatnam: A day after the alleged attack on the former chief of Hijra Association Surada Yellaji in the city, the Kancharapalem police on Thursday registered FIR against six local transgenders.
According to the sources, the police on Thursday registered a case against Shilpa, Mohan, Ramana, Saritha, Anu and Kiran after they received complaint from Yellaji.
Speaking to media Kancharapalem inspector Ch Tirupati Rao said that based on the complaint from Yellaji, we registered FIR against six transgenders under section 324 r/w 34 of IPC (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons). “So far, we didn’t take anyone into our custody as Yellaji has given different versions on the attack,” he added.
Meanwhile some transgenders in the city alleged that begging has become a prime trade for transgenders. The disputes among them was raised due to some local transgenders supporting non-local transgenders from Kakinada and Vijayawada.
