Visakhapatnam: The standing committee members of Zilla Parishad expressed their dissent over the delay in completion of various developmental works and failing to reach the targets of welfare schemes.
In view of general elections ahead, the members demanded the officials to complete the works within the scheduled time. ZP Chairperson L Bhavani chaired the various standing committee meetings of ZP held here on Saturday.
Participating in the meetings, the members raised several issues related to developmental works and welfare schemes. Responding on the issues, the Chairperson directed the officials to complete all the pending works as early as possible.
Expressing her anger on the officials who failed to reach set targets, Bhavani said that hereafter she never tolerates the officials who are not completing the set targets.
Panchayat Raj engineers informed that 206 works were granted under the PMGSY and only seven works were completed so far and another 143 works are under various stages of progress. The engineers informed that another 56 works were yet to be started in the district.
Project Director of District Water Management Agency (DWMA) Dayanidhi explained the progress of the MGNREGS works in the district.
Farm ponds, solid waste management, play grounds, rain water harvesting pits, CC roads, construction of buildings to Anganwadi Centres and Panchayat Offices were under various stages of construction, he explained and assured to complete the works as per the schedule.
Speaking on the employment generation, District Industries Centre (DIC) General Manager Ramalinga Raju informed that 116 new industries were established in the district and provided placements to 80,000 youth.
During previous fiscal, 602 small, micro and minor industries were established and 9,000 youth got the jobs, he informed.
The officials of Medical and Health briefed about the high-end preparedness against the dengue, swine flu, and malaria fevers.
