Tirupati: Harshitha Hospital and Model Diagnostic Centre have jointly organised a free ‘Insulin awareness camp’ in Tirupati on Saturday.

Senior doctors Dr P Krishna Prasanthi and Dr Harinath Reddy participated in the camp and created awareness on the myths and realities of the usage of insulin which occupies an important place in the treatment of diabetes.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Krishna Prasanthi has said that several diabetic patients were living in the society with various deficiencies like diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy.

She said that for those having diabetes for more than 10 years, tablets may not work properly, and they must take insulin injections. But, due to several misconceptions people were afraid of taking insulin injections.

She explained about the insulin pens and how to administer the injections to the patients and the advantages of taking them for those in journeys, employees and others. About 100 patients took part in the camp.
