Vijayawada: The employees of 104 emergency services began an indefinite strike by stopping the services across the state from Tuesday. As many as 292 vehicles stopped plying on the roads.

The union leaders of 104 service staged a protest in front of all the Collectorates in the state raising slogans against the management of 104 service.

The members of the union have been demanding for the hike in salaries for a long time.

Earlier, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had given an assurance and the state government had issued a GO 151 in favour of their demands.

However, the management of 104 service TSMRI group is yet to implement the orders. After a long wait, the 104 service employees started indefinite strike.

As many as 1,505 employees, including 340 pilots, 340 lab technicians, 340 nurses, 340 pharmacists, and 145 watchmen took part in the first day of their indefinite strike across the 13 districts of the state, according to Chandranna Sanchara Chikitsa AP 104 Contract Employees Union state working president VR Phani Kumar.
