Vijayawada: Traffic problems faced by the residents of Madhura Nagar, Devi Nagar, Satyanarayanapuram and other colonies will be solved soon with the construction of Railway Under Bridge in Madhura Nagar.
Vijayawada Central Assembly legislator Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, municipal commissioner J Nivas and local peoples’ representatives and local people attended the ground breaking ceremony organised on Tuesday.
The RUB will be built between Bhanu Nagar mosque centre to Madhura Nagar park. As a result, vehicles can pass under the bridge between Madhura Nagar and BRTS road.
Due to the closure of railway gate at least 40 times a day, thousands of people living in Madhura Nagar and nearby are suffering for a long time. Trains travelling towards Gudiwada, Machilipatnam and Narsapuram pass via Madhura Nagar railway station. Consequently, the railway gate is closed frequently halting the traffic.
Local corporator Kaku Mallikarjuna Yadav and A Ravi Kumar representing the 44 and 45 divisions have submitted representations many times to VMC officials and the Railway officials for construction of RUB. Finally, the Railway sanctioned the works and tenders were also finalised for execution of works. The VMC will construct the approach road and the Railways will construct the structure under the railway tracks
