Tirupati: The Navahnika annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram were off to a colourful start with Dhwajarohanam on Sunday morning.

The Garuda Dhwaja was offered worship by a group of Acharyas as per the tenets of Vaikhanasa Agama before it was hosted on Dhwajasthambham at the shrine in the scheduled Meena Lagnam between 9 am and 9.18 am.

TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal who took part in the auspicious fete said that the TTD has made elaborate arrangements for the Brahmotsavams at Srinivasa Mangapuram temple which is witnessing steady increase in the number of pilgrims visiting the temple located 13 km from Tirupati.

Speaking on the occasion, Kankana Bhattar who will be responsible for the conduct of 9-day Brahmotsavams, said the legend says that those who witness the Dhwajarohanam, Garuda Seva, Brahma Ratham, Snapana Tirumanjanam and Chakra Snanam during this fete will attain salvation. Temple deputy executive officer Dhananjeyulu, AEO Lakshmaiah, Superintendent Muni Chengalrayulu, temple Inspector Anil and others took part.
