Revealed as a concept car at the Paris Motor Show and the Tokyo Motor Show last year, Toyota is expected to showcase the production version of the C-HR crossover at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show.

Sources have confirmed that Toyota has ambitiously planned to have the C-HR mass produced and sold in 2016. This crossover has been garnering a lot of attention due to the interesting design and the variety of engine options that include a hybrid and a turbocharged petrol engine.

Hybrid power will be generated via a 1.8-litre motor coupled to an electric motor. Power output is expected to be in the range of 121bhp and it will make use of a CVT transmission.

A1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine packing 114bhp and 185Nm of torque is also on the cards. Toyota’s C-HR will eventually be offered to customers with the choice of FWD or an optional AWD as an added benefit.
