MSIL revealed Maruti Vitara Brezza at 2016 Auto Expo set to compete with Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.
Set to launch across India sometime in March, Maruti Vitara Brezza will meet competition head-on from Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300. All in the sub 4 meter SUV segment, we compare the three vehicles in terms of engine, power, performance, dimensions and fuel efficiency.
Engine
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is being launched with only a diesel engine option. This will include a 1.3 liter 4 cylinder engine offering 88.5bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 200Nm peak torque at 1750 rpm mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The Ford EcoSport receives a more powerful 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine capable of 98.6 PS power and 205 Nm torque while it also receives a 1.0 liter EcoBoost and a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol engine. Mahindra TUV300 is powered by a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder engine capable of 84 PS power at 3,750 rpm and 230 Nm torque at 1,500 to 2,250 rpm. Each of these three rivals has their engines mated to 5 speed manual transmission while the TUV300 AMT is also on offer.
Dimensions
Maruti Vitara Brezza measures 3,995mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,640mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,500mm and has boot space of 328 liters. On the other hand, the Ford EcoSport measures 3,999mm in length, 1,765mm in width and 1,780mm in height. It receives a wheelbase of 2,520mm and boot space of 346 liters. Mahindra TUV300 measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,835mm in width and stands 1,839mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,680mm while boot space compares favorably with its competitors at 384 liters.
Fuel Efficiency
Of the three competitors, Maruti Vitara Brezza is expected to return the most mileage. We expect it to be above 23 kmpl. Ford EcoSport fuel efficiency stands at 22.27 kmpl while on the Mahindra TUV300 fuel efficiency is at just 18.49 kmpl.
Price
How the three sub 4 meter SUVs compare on pricing is yet to be determined as prices of Maruti Vitara Brezza have not yet been announced. However, it we expect it to be priced at a much lower starting price as compared to rivals. Currently, Ford EcoSport is priced from INR 8.19 lakhs to INR 10.65 lakhs while Mahindra TUV300 is priced between INR 7.10 lakhs to INR 9.33 lakhs.
