RS Kalsi, Executive Director – Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., stated that the boost offered by the new cars this April was 17% higher than the new car boost received during the same period last year. The venture into new segments definitely paid off. The Baleno and Vitara Brezza emerged as a the top selling models of their respective segments.

The Alto, Dzire, Swift and WagonR continued to be the top sellers for the brand last month. The company registered total monthly sales of 1,00,709 units. The UV segment which includes the Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza witnessed a surge to 16,044 units as against April 2015’s 4,452 units.

Thanks to the SHVS mild hybrid diesel variant, the Ciaz managed to clock 5,702 units, just 91 units short of what the segment leader Honda City managed. Mr. Kalsi added that the sales growth of 16.2% in April is in line the company’s target of achieving double-digit growth this year.
