Honda Activa highest selling two wheeler in May
Two-wheeler sales during May 2016 revealed a 9.75% increase with 15,15,556 units sold during the month. Hero Moto Corp ruled the list with a 1.36% increase in sales while the Honda Activa was the best selling two wheeler.
Data on Two Wheeler sales in May 2016 has been released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
Two-wheeler sales during May 2016 revealed a 9.75% increase with 15,15,556 units sold during the month. Hero Moto Corp ruled the list with a 1.36% increase in sales while the Honda Activa was the best selling two wheeler.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India saw its Activa once more in the lead with 2,37,317 units sold in May 2016. This was a 26% increase in sales as compared to 1,87,827 units sold in May 2015.
This also indicates that Activa continues as the best selling two wheeler in India for the 5th consecutive month. Following these outstanding sales, the company expects to see increased sales by over 20% during the current financial year while 3 new colors to the Activa-I were introduced last month.
Following Honda Activa, in a No. 2 spot was Hero MotoCorp Splendor of which 2,07,101 units were sold in May 2016 as against 2,41,249 units sold in May 2015 registering de-growth to the tune of 14%. Hero HF Deluxe stood as the third best selling two wheeler in May 2016 with 1,12,273 units sold as against 93,944 units sold in May 2015 resulting in a 20% growth. The HF Deluxe has been a favorite since start of this year recording double-digit growth with total sales of 5,54,365 units sold to date.
Hero Passion on the other hand that has suffered negative sales for the past 8 months noted a marginal increase in sales and featured 4th on the list of best sellers in May 2016. Total sales during the month stood at 97,882 units while it dropped one position from a previously held 3rd spot.
TVX XL claimed 5th spot on the list of best sellers in the past month with a 19% increase in sales. Total sales during the month stood at 75,406 units, up from 63,555 units sold in May 2015.
Hero Glamour in 6th Position saw sales increase by 28% in May 2016 with 74,590 units sold as compared to 58,434 units sold in may 2015. Its sales exceeded that of Honda CB Shine of which 56,818 units were sold in May 2016 resulting in a 27% dip in sales as compared to 78,183 units sold in May 2015.
Among the Bajaj Auto best sellers, Bajaj CT and Pulsar ruled the list even though both these models reported negative sales during May 2016. Bajaj CT sales dipped 22% while Pulsar sales were down 13% during the month to stand in 8th and 9th position respectively. TVS Motors saw its Jupiter model in 10th position taking the place of Honda Dream with 37% increase in sales.
