IT sector to generate 2.75 lakh jobs: Nasscom chief

Hyderabad: Nasscom Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy on Thursday said the IT companies would be expected to recruit about 2.75 lakh people in the current fiscal. He had indicated earlier that the hiring this year would be around 2.3 lakh. Reddy who also took part in the IIT-Hyderabad event said the IT and services sectors would clock 12 to 13 per cent growth.

"Business will grow by 12 to 13 per cent. We are confident about that, depending on where the dollar and rupee would go. But if you compare it with the previous years, we will probably add about $20 billion extra revenue this year. Last year we only added about $16 billion", he said.

According to him, IT and services sectors touched $148 billion revenues last year. On the impact of floods in Chennai on the IT industry, Reddy said most of the big companies have already taken precautionary measures and avoided troubles.
