Equirus Capital, leading midmarket-focused financial services company, has launched Portfolio Management Services (PMS), as part of expanding its current bouquet of offerings.
Mumbai: Equirus Capital, leading midmarket-focused financial services company, has launched Portfolio Management Services (PMS), as part of expanding its current bouquet of offerings.
The PMS division will be headed by Viraj Mehta, who will be the Fund Manager for the division. Viraj, had started his career with Equirus and after buyside stint with Franklin Templeton and ValueQuest has joined Equirus to lead the foray into PMS.
Equirus, which recently strengthened its wealth management division, will focus on niche segment of clients through tailor-made portfolios under the PMS division.
The Equirus PMS will have bottom-up approach for research and will leverage the long track-record of value creation by the institutional research team.
Commenting on the new foray, Equirus Managing Director Ajay Garg said: “Over the last five years, we have been able to build a significant track record of identifying mid-market winners with bottoms-up research.
Given the current appetite for equity, our PMS under Viraj’s leadership will surely be favored by select high net-worth individuals, who will seek specialized services.”
Viraj Mehta said: “Equirus PMS will primarily focus on niche business which have leadership position within the industry with high profit share and run by honest managers.
The investment horizon is at least five years for each investment on standalone basis. We expect to be early on the discovery curve of a business and thus allowing us long runways for earnings growth.”
Previously part of award-winning fund management team at Franklin Templeton managing an AUM of ~US$ 6bn, Viraj has more than eight years of experience in the domain.
Viraj was also the Lead Analyst for managing the funds of small companies at Franklin. He was selected by Wall Street Journal (WSJ) as part of “Asia’s Master Stock Picker” series for India during this period.
Equirus is fast emerging as a strong mid-market investment bank with track record in advisory transactions, focused capital market approach and well-respected institutional equities research team.
