partTirupati: Anganwadi Workers Associations affiliated to CPI and CPM staged a protest at RDO office in Tirupati on Wednesday demanding house sites to all Anganwadi workers as per GO No. 7. Despite the instructions of District Collector Solomon Arokia Raj to the Tahsildars concerned, no fruitful results have come so far, they alleged. The Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union affiliated to CPM staged a protest at Revenue Divisional Officer's office here and handed over a memorandum to RDO. On the other hand, the association affiliated to CPI held its district level meeting and demanded the revenue officials to send the concrete list of beneficiaries to the District Collector immediately. The members of the associations demanded the State government to announce promotions to all eligible workers and helpers. They also demanded payment of arrears, which are in pending for more than six months, and to pay rentals periodically. These also demanded to link up all LKG and UKG classes to Anganwadi centres and to recognise the teachers on par with regular teachers. AWHU district president Syamalamma criticised the privatization of Tirupati Anganwadi project to RASS and demanded to link up all centres to government. She also criticised that Tahsildar was reluctant to sanction the house sites even after special instructions from the District Collector. She also demanded to pay the power bills as per the recent hike and also to supply cooking gas cylinders at subsidized rates.
