Chennai: The horror-thriller "Pizza 2: Villa", a sequel of “Pizza” released on Nov 14 could not make a grand opening as its predecessor.
However, it has managed to scrape up approximately Rs.3.1 crore in the first five days in Tamil Nadu. According to sources, the film was made on a budget of over Rs.5 crore.
A trade analyst, Trinath said media that the film approximately made a collection of Rs.3.1 crore till Monday. He accepted the fact that the movie could not grab the earth-shattering opening of 'Pizza', but, he said, still it managed to rake in the moolah and is going strong at the box office.
“Pizza 2: Villa" received mixed reviews unlike "Pizza", which wowed critics and audiences alike. "Many couldn't understand the climax. Since the film belongs to the horror genre and audiences usually shout while watching it, therefore, may have missed some important scenes that eventually help in connecting the dots," he added.
“Pizza 2: Villa" was also dubbed and released in Telugu with the same title two days after the Tamil releasein which Ashok Selvan and Sanchita Shetty played the lead roles.
