Big B

The last time he played himself on screen - in Anurag Kashyap's segment of 'Bombay Talkies' - he fulfilled an ailing father's quest to get him to take a bite of his favourite Murabba. This time, Big B will come to the aid of a struggling scriptwriter in ad filmmaker Pushpendra Misra's directorial debut, Ghumketu.

The film, which is scheduled to release next year, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a struggling film writer who comes to Mumbai to fulfil his Bollywood dream. However, when the script that he's written is plagiarised and made into a film by another filmmaker, he knocks on Bachchan's doors for help. And the superstar answers to his call.

Apart from Bachchan Sr, Anurag Kashyap will be seen playing himself in the film as well. A source close to the film said: "It is a satirical take on a writer's struggle to make a place for himself in the industry. Comedy is a genre Nawaz hasn't attempted before. Both Bachchan and Kashyap have extended cameos in the film. Anurag has already filmed his part, but Bachchan is yet to shoot his portion."

When contacted the film's director Pushpendra Misra heard our story, and without denying it, said, "The studio has told us not to talk to the press yet."
