Mahesh Babu's 1 Nenokkadine is gearing up to hit theatres. Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding the movie poster that was triggered by a tweet written by actress Samantha refuses to die down.
It may be recalled soon after the makers released a new poster of Mahesh's upcoming film with Kriti Sanon, Samantha tweeted: “Saw a poster of a yet to be released Telugu film. Not only is it deeply regressive, but it’s point is actually that it is deeply regressive.”
This obviously did not go down well with the fans of Mahesh who resorted to cyber war with the actress.
Just when we thought the fight was over, renowned director Shekar Kammula reportedly expressed his support to Samantha and also backed her tweet. On a facebook page reportedly belonging to Shekar Kammula was written thus...
“Just saw the poster of 1 Nenokkadine and read what Samantha tweeted.......I share the same views....it is regressive, no doubt about it...but what is shocking is the ruckus that is being created against her.......Its her opinion and she has every right to express it...and it has nothing to do with Mahesh Babu. Its how a woman has been projected on a poster and how she felt about it.
This is not the first time we have seen posters like this or films that protray woman regressively but its heartening to see a main stream heroine react. Manam brathike unnam anna feeling ecchindi... hats off Samantha for actually starting a debate...this is good for our industry...its a great sign....
When a top heroine sees a poster and feels that women are shown regressively, it is time for all of us to think about it rather than attack her. Perhaps many women feel the same way about the way we show them in our movies...”
Well, well this must have made both Samantha and her rumoured boyfriend Siddharth very happy huh?
