Samskruthy Shenoy did manage to grab a few eyeballs when she was first spotted at the audio launch of her film ‘Hrudayam Ekkadunnadi’, chaired by Mahesh Babu as the chief guest, late last year. Making her debut at the age of 13 in the recently released film, she has almost completed shooting for a host of Tamil and Malayalam films too.

“Acting and dance are my obsessions; hence films were always on my agenda. I started training in Bharatnatyam at the age of three. I’ve also took training in Mohiniyattam and contemporary dance form. Shobana is my inspiration,” says the Kochi-based upcoming actress.

Her doctor dad initially was opposed to her idea of acting in ‘Hrudayam...’ “Besides being from a conventional Konkani family, he felt I was too young. When director Anand after liking my photos and dance videos on Facebook approached him, he said, “My daughter is okay with commercials and supporting roles, but not full-fledged roles’. Even though he liked the film’s script, it took a long time for Anand sir to convince him,” she smiles, admitting that

she is too young to get into films. “However, I’m lucky to have got the opportunity in ‘‘Hrudayam...’ . Even Sridevi mam started very early. I’m realising my acting dream.”

Speaking about her character in the film, she says, “I play Nithya, a freelance fashion designer. She loses her

mom when she’s young. She is a level-headed woman who takes care of her dad. She is the ideal girl and anyone would love to form a bond with her on the first meeting itself.”

Recalling her memorable experience on sets, she shares, “My shooting commenced with a romantic number. I was like this, ‘My God! Romance at the age of 13?’ It was not my cup of tea but I was okay and gave it my best shot’.
