Although Chiranjeevi can take solace in the fact that Pawan won't be contesting elections, the power star's open support to BJP is certainly a cause for worry, especially for his party. This was the reason why the Congress sent Chiru to Chikkaballapur in Karnataka for election campaigning where he has a great fan following. As expected it worked - Chiru did receive a warm reception in the Karnataka town where there is a huge chunk of Telugu population. But not until the BJP state president Kishan Reddy met Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan. Till then, everything seemed to be going fine.

Kishan Reddy requested Pawan to campaign for the BJP to drive away Congress from power. Incidentally, this has been the loud slogan which Pawan uttered in his debut speech in Hyderabad. Remember Congress Hatao, Desh Bachao? Even though, the BJP president told the press that Pawan would take a call after consulting his friends and well wishers. People knew better than to believe him as the deal had been made. Pawan had in fact already agreed to be the star campaigner of the saffron party. How else would you expect Pawan in Karnataka within hours of their meeting?

BJP perhaps cashed in on Pawan's reverence for its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. And on the other hand, this was another chance for the Jana Sena founder to conduct another public meeting without much hassle. And the BJP chose Kolar, another district in Karnataka which has a majority of Telugu speaking people.

In his address to the people, Chiru in Chikkaballapur had said: "I request all of you to vote for Congress for the overall development of the country." He also makes it a point to make people understand that Congress alone should not be blamed for dividing Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan, on the other hand slammed the Congress for dividing the state while reiterating that the country needs a leader like Narendra Modi as PM to drive away the corrupt Congress.

While Chiru is busy doing some damage control and making an attempt to remove the stains smeared on his party, Pawan on the other hand is shooting off anti-Congress salvos to remind people of the party's corrupt ways.

It would be interesting to watch who will win this battle.
