The 69-year-old’s last work as a screenwriter was son Farhan Akhtar directorial venture ‘Don’ in 2006, a remake of the 1978 film of the same name which was penned by him and writing partner Salim Khan.

“Javed Akhtar after a fairly long gap is coming back to scriptwriting. He has done a couple of scripts. And they will be announced soon. He is not collaborating with Farhan or Zoya for their movies. He may do a film with Vishal Bhardwaj,” a source said.
