RGV is a tough task master: Nandu

Actor Nandu, who is awaiting the release of Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Ice Cream 2’, says that the director has roped him in for the horror-thriller without even seeing his films. “I’ve bumped into him at a five star hotel in Hyderabad sometime back and he randomly selected me for the film. He asked me to leave me a message after few days and when I indeed left him one, he said I’m his lead actor for ‘Ice Cream 2’,” he recalls, adding, “He purely went by my looks. I’m even doing another film with him.”

He says the filmmaker is tough task master, especially when it comes to expressions. “He is very sure about each and every expression and until he is satisfied he will persist with it. He is someone who gets the best out of the actors coming to expressions,” he says.

He continues, “I’ve never seen him sitting on a chair during the shoot. Only when he goes to lunch break, he relaxes. Otherwise he is on the move every time, making me and the rest of the cast to be on our toes. On the first day of the shoot I was so tired that I thought it will be difficult to meet his requirements, but after three days I got used to his style of working.”

The young actor has featured in a sensuous ‘Ice Fruit’ for the film and credits RGV for presenting him stylishly “Generally his focus will be on the actress, but this time around he ensured that I was presented well. I couldn’t control, but laugh at some of his suggestions during the song filming and he was like, “Nandu why the hell are you laughing? There’ a beautiful girl next to you, pay attention to the shot.’”

Quiz him if his singer wife Geeta Madhuri had any complains about the song, he smiles, “I’ve told her about the number during the shoot itself. In a sense I mentally prepared her. And when she finally watched it, she said it was like any other sensuous number. She felt I exaggerated my description about it.”
